Storm Shocked at Graveyard loss to Titans
// April 6th, 2009 // Storm
The Melbourne Storm rarely lose at home Olympic Park aka ‘The Graveyard”. Yet, when the Storm took on the Titans on Saturday night, they lost, going against expectations of the media and public.
What I saw during the 80 minutes of play, was a Storm team in a bit of a shambles with players taking on new positions. I’d say there was a fair bit of confusion and captain Cam Smith needs to be the #9. Greg Inglis is more versatile and can play wherever he is needed.
The Titans, who were without half-back Scott Prince looked far more held together than the Storm and never looked like they would not be the victors. The Titans’ defense was largely the reason Storm failed to score more than one try during the match.
Without doubt former Storm player Nathan Friend was the best on ground from my perspective. Storm’s best player was new player Joseph Tomane, who scored their only try. Although, this try went to the Video ref, and in my opinion was quite possibly dropped, not being placed down under control. But I was happy the Storm boys were able to get some points on the board.
The Storm will take on the Penrith Panthers this Saturday at the Graveyard. There will need to be some changes if the Storm are to win at home to the Panthers who just this weekend smashed Wests Tigers by 20 points.
